Community resources

Aging well at home is no easy feat. In fact, it likely takes the careful coordination of family members, friends, and healthcare professionals to successfully age at home. To better navigate this unique puzzle, we’ve put together a collection of resources for older adults in Iowa. Listed below are non-profit organizations that assist aging adults in locating resources, equipment and navigating the ever changing healthcare environment.

At Happy at Home Consulting, we know that living well at home doesn’t always require a major renovation. Sometimes, a few small changes like adding a grab bar, adjusting lighting, or replacing door hardware can make a world of difference.

That’s why we’re proud to partner with Home Modifications Iowa, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing accessibility and independence for older adults and individuals with disabilities. Home Modifications Iowa helps to  funding for small adaptive devices and simple home modifications that improve safety and daily function.

This partnership allows us to:

  • Fund essential adaptive tools, such as handheld showers, raised toilet seats, threshold ramps, and kitchen aids

  • Cover minor but meaningful home updates, like non-slip flooring, wall-mounted grab bars, or improved entry access

  • Leverage the expertise of licensed occupational therapists to ensure every solution fits the person and the space

By combining clinical insight with community-based funding, we’re making it easier for Iowans to remain safe, confident, and independent.
